PowerArmour Squad - Eastway National Army

Renamed the Eastway National Army, in recognition of the original city guards still being in service, the ENA are starting to finalise some of its core units.

The first core unit is a PowerArmoured unit, which includes specialist troopers that are armed with new alien tech weaponry. This alien weaponry is rumoured to have been supplied by a race that is aligned against the Federal Forces.

Eastway City has recently consolidated their existing properties and expanded their territory. While avoiding outright armed conflict with Federal Forces they have greatly enhanced their military assets. The Eastway Council has brought in a large force of professional soldiers and rewarded them with Citizenship and a promise of land.

The new ENG (Eastway National Guard) have met with the existing ECM (Eastway City Militia) leadership with a view to integrating their forces.

 

The new ENG forces include powered armour troops. These images are not the best quality and Federal Intel hopes for better quality images within the next few days.

 



Eastway National Armed Forces - using ArmiesArmy British

I just received a large bundle of the new ArmiesArmy British forces as a thank you from Keith for designing their logo. Wow! These figures are great. They have convinced me to put away my 28mm Greek army and get back to my 15mm Scifi world. A big sorry to those who have followed the blog and have missed the regular posts.

At first look I was sure that these guys would be perfect as additional forces for my Eastway City Militia faction. The have the same rounded helmet style that the Rafm/Traveller figures have. I even painted one up to see how it looked in the same colours. I was very happy with the way the figure came out. "Perfect!", I thought.

Then I got some of the Rafm minis out of storage. And the size difference is very noticable. I knew Rafm have suffered from a couple of decades of scale creep, but I hadn't thought it would be quite as bad.

But... to be honest, the new figures from ArmiesArmy are so good that I may just retire the older rafm minis and focus on the new mini range.

Anyway, here is the 1st of the new minis, and some of the Rafm ones so you can judge for yourself how they compare....

Are these the Droids you're looking for?

Fyoder is not only a dumping ground for all sorts of human or alien refugees hoping to make a new life, but also the destination of a variety of robots, droids, automatons and other artificial lifeforms. Many are out-moded antiques, while others are state-of-the-art scientific models.

Below are a selection of the droids that you could encounter on Forsey.

Eastway City Militia Part 3

The Eastway City's Militia recruitment has progressed well with many new soldiers ready to fight for independent choice for settlers on Forsey. Many non-combatant tech positions have also been fulfilled, ensuring that the armoured vehicles and transports are capable of moving troops into combat zones when required.

The Eastway City Governing Council consists of eight permanent members. Pictured below, from left to right, are Naismith Connay, Faal Birmandii, Pierre Gamby and Finn Russelle. These four form the opposition party that stands against Colonel Etevino Cassado's attempts at taking full control of the council.

The City Guard are controlled by Finn Russelle, making him the second most powerful member of the council. Connay and Gambay control the Trading and Manufacturing Unions, while Birmandii is the representative of the non-human residents of Eastway. Birmandii is also the closest to the Federation and campaigns for a peaceful settlement to the Independence issue.

The City Guard, shown below, are the best equipped troops in Eastway but very rarely see action. Their armour and weapons, including the heavy dreadnaught suits, is actually of an antique design that was introduced during the 1st Expansion from Old Earth. In fact some of the dreadnaughts are over 100 years old.

All the figures I've used are from the old Traveller range, most of which are still available from Rafm. The only exception is the alin, Faal Birmandii, who is from Brigade Games Alien Civilians pack.

Eastway City Militia Part 2

Eastway City's Militia programme is progressing as planned. Officers and NCO's are in place and conscription and recruitment fairs have been announced. Early volunteers are being offered land deeds as an incentive to enlist. The fighting force should be complete within two months with basic to advanced training beginning immediately.

Mim'n Joop Da, Baroka Businessman

Mim'n Joop Da is Eastway City Council's most controversial member. A known criminal gang boss, he has secured his place not through blackmail or threat, but by bankrolling the cities militia forces. He is a close friend of Colonel Etevino Cassado and will usually be seen attending Council meetings alongside his military partner. When not on Council business he will be found at one of his casinos or at his estate outside Eastway City. He employs a large security force at all his properties.

Eastway City Militia Part 1 - Commanders

Eastway City Governing Council assigned the command of their Militia forces to the veteran soldier, Colonel Etevino Cassado. Assisted by his ever-present Aide-de-camp Maria Zadgorski, he aims to form the undisiplined Militia units into a cohesive fighting force. He also has ambitions of becoming a political leader and has his sights set on control of the Governing Council. He is a firm believer in independance for the people of Forsey and openly speaks out against Fyoder Industries stranglehold on the planet. He has also show a distrust of the Federal Peacekeeping forces, who he believes are only there at the bequest of Fyoder. Cassado is always accompanied by armed guards wherever he goes.

Cassado and his entourage are from the old Traveller range of figures. I picked these up recently from eBay and they were in great condition for their age. These are still available from RAFM in the Space Vixens, Planetary Militia, and Crewmen sets.

GAK Armoured Personnel Carrier

With continuing attacks from the insectoid invaders throughout the central regions of Forsey, local militias are being activated. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Eastway Motorised Rifles were recently formed amid speculation that the "Friendlies", a group of extreme militant Christian settlements to the south, were also arming large quantities of troops.
The combined Federal forces have urged calm, stating that the imminent arrival of the 23rd and 27th New Vistula Hussars would be enough to ensure the safety of colonists and natives alike in the troubled area.

The Eastway City Governing Council has stated its intention to continue arming and training troops with the expectation of having a full time professional armed force in place within months. The introduction of the GAK apc is the first step in motorising what had previously been a mostly foot infantry unit.

Heavily armoured and well armed, this apc is capable of carrying a squad of eight lightly armoured infantry and it's six-wheel configuration allows it to easily traverse the rugged Forsey terrain.

I picked up two of these APCs yesterday from Poundland for... yup £1 each. Not sure what they're supposed to be, whether a real vehicle or just a fictional vehicle, but they're perfect sized for 15mm and I'm sure the existing turret weapons could be removed and replaced.

I'll post more pics once they're both painted and based. These will be transporting some old 15mm Citadel Traveller figures I've had for many a year and that I'm only just getting painted.
