Moonside City Fabricants

Forsey owes it's status in the galaxy to it's main moon, which is one of the most resource rich moons outside Federal Space. Forsey's Child is a satellite moon lacking in any breathable atmosphere but still has a population on a similar scale to Forsey itself. It's major city is Moonside, a vast metropolis that is 90% under the surface of the moon. Suffering from massive overpopulation, the lower city is a hive of poverty and deprivation. Conditions are so bad that even the droid and fabricant population is desperate to find a way to escape down to the surface of Forsey, where the life is hard but where oppurtunities to build a life are easier to find.

These fabricants have escaped their corporate bondage and have travelled groundside as stowaways. Knowing they have no sentient rights they will do anything to avoid returning Moonside to a life in the mines or pleasure pits.

These figures are fabricants from The Departments Bladerunner inspired range.

15mm Scifi Figure Comparison Part 5

I've done quite a few figure size comparison posts on here but not for a while, so with a few new figures through the door recently I thought it was time for some new scale pics.

First up is the new range from The Department, which consist of Bladerunner style figures, including some really cool replicants. The figures in this range are mostly of the 18mm/larger sized figures, but the two replicants are closer to the traditional size.

Here they are alongside some other manufacturers miniatures.

These are, from left to right, Critical Mass Arc trooper, Department detective, Laserburn ships crew, Khurasan Control Battalion Riflething, Department fabricant, and Micropanzer SAS.

I also picked up a Halo Micro Ops Falcon gunship, which is supposedly 1/100 scale, so should be perfect for 15mm scifi. The packs include infantry, and I know there was a great deal of excitement that we could see official Halo minis in 15mm. Now I know that the Spartans from Halo are supposed to be a lot taller than a normal human, but these minis are huge, as you can see from the next pic...

These are, from left to right, Khurasan Meso-Nai, Khurasan Riflething, Critical Mass Arc Trooper, and lastly the Spartan figure that comes in the Falcon pack. I may use this as an advanced Augmented human and include it in my army.

Eastway City Spaceport - Heavy Loader

Eastway City Spaceport may not be the busiest port on Forsey, and it certainly isn't the most high-tech or modern, but it still boasts a unique mix of the old and the new, from interplanetary transports, cargo haulers, service droids, to aliens from around the galaxy.

The UBX-4593 "Ball" is just one of the cargo movers that can be seen in and around the spaceport. These heavy lifters can either be manned, remotely controled, or have AI Droid intelligence systems fitted. They are capable of working both in planetary atmospheres or in zero gravity.

Some models have also been armed, either with dual lasers or with heavy bolters. Though slow, the heavy armour of the Ball was designed to be able to withstand great pressure and is therefore a difficult target to damage, making this vehicle a favourite of some rebel or bandit groups.

 The Ball is a soft plastic Gundam Gashapon (Collectable Figure) that I picked up for less than £2 from eBay. I've tried to make the base look like a spaceport surface rather than the textured bases I usually put on the figures. The other minis are from Khurasan, Ground Zero or from the old Traveller range.

Fyoder has a growing population of robots, droids, automatons and other artificial lifeforms. While a lot of those are military, many more are worker droids, whether there to service incoming freighters and transports, or to keep the streets clean in places such as Eastway City. Below is another selection of the droids that you could encounter on Forsey.

Top picture from left to right - A space janitor from Khurasan for scale, an epic scale droid from Games Workshop, Khurasan's Duke painted as a worker bot rather than as the bounty hunter's companion, another epic scale droid from Games Workshop, and a cleaner droid from Hobby Products.
Bottom picture from left to right - A security droid from Hobby Products, another epic scale droid from Games Workshop, a 28mm droid from GW/Citadel's Paranoia range, and the space janitor from Khurasan for scale again.
I wasn't happy with the photo of the Paranoia droid so here's some individual shots...

Next up I'm going to finish my second Federal Grizzly. These are made using old old Dinky Stalwarts with the new model having an added weapon from a soft plastic Gundam model.

Federal Army Specialist Assault Team

The SATs (Specialist Assault Teams) are one of the Federal Armies most unique forces. Unit composition is left up to the individual team's commanding officer. Team Alpha Two Five (SAT_A25) is commanded by two officers, supported by a comms droid.

The main fighting force consists of some of the best hand-picked troopers from the Federal Droptrooper units. These soldiers are given more freedom to pick armour and weapons than regular infantry.

Federal Augments are specially bred soldiers who are taller, stronger and faster than a normal human. They go through intense psycholological and physical training and although they are amongst the fiercest of fighters in the Federal Army they also have a reputation for their high moral values.

By adding a M-6756 Heavy Sentry Gunbot to the unit, you have one of the best equipped and strongest units currently available to the Federal command.

The Federal Army miniatures are a mix of Critical Mass Games ARC troops with an EM4 mech, with some Odzial Ossmy and Khurasan for variety.

Phi-1DeeBee, Protocol Droid

Phi-1DeeBee is an old style protocol droid who has found himself on Forsey without an owner. Without sentient rights he is unable to look for work and his only hope for employment is to be aquired as working salvage. Unfortunatly there is little call for a droid of his age and his worry is that he will either be left to power down and picked up as scrap, or worse, he'll end up in the southern wastes where he'll be put into a pit fight against a gladiator droid.

 

 

This old droid figure is from the Traveller range and is still available from RAFM. He'd had a few coats of paint when I got him from ebay so there's a little bit of detail lost, especially at the eyes, but all in all he's still a nice wee figure.
