Matchbox Armored Response Vehicle cont...

ARV number three was dropped off by the postman this afternoon. I've already added some armour to the front windows using some spare plastic card and painted the whole vehicle black. I'm sure I have some weapons sprues from Games Workshops old Dark Future range sitting in the garage, so maybe be adding some weaponry as well.

Khurasan Reopen!

It was a bit of a shock recently when Khurasan closed their website. Thankfully it has reopened with a limited range, mostly their scifi and pulp range. Now all I need to do is resist rushing to spend my cash on their site.

Matchbox Armored Response Vehicle

I spotted these on another forum so checked out if they were available on eBay. Surprisingly they were both readily available and cheap. So picked up a couple for £1 or £2 each. These paint up really nicely.

I added some comms equipment to the first one, including a radar from a plastic Rhino kit from Games Workshop. The crewman is from Ground Zero and came in the same bundle as the mini-mule I posted earlier. I left the second vehicle without any additions.

I have another on it's way from ebay which I'm going to up-armour. The big windows on these look far too tempting a target.

Ground Zero Games Mini-mule

Here's a little vehicle I picked up in a bundle from eBay. I really like this small 6-wheel machine, it reminds me a lot of the moon buggies from Space 1999. I painted this up as a construction/civilian vehicle rather than military and painting the yellow made a pleasant change from camo greens and browns. I'm now tempted to steal the kids toy diggers and build a set of mining/colonists.

You can get these from Ground Zero Games and they come in several options, armed or unarmed and with trailers etc.

ARC Recon Squad

Here are my first pictures on my blog. I really hope these have uploaded properly and you can see them. These are ARC recon figures from Critical Mass Games. These guys really set the standard for other manufacturers. They've been a pleasure to paint and I'll be getting some more of these in the future. I struggled to decide whether to mount the the figures individually or on group bases. I decided on the group bases as I really like the way Flames of War units look and wanted something similar in my scifi army.

Critical Mass have also just released jet/grav bikes to go with these and I'm struggling to not place an order right away.

Anyway, here's another couple of pics of these great figures....

Micropanzer's SAS Elites

Placed an order today for two squads of Micropanzer's SAS figures, one an Elite and the other is Veteran squad - went with the beret option on the vets. Great price on these as he's having a sale... $5.60 for a squad of ten.
Wonder how long it will take for these to come over from the US? I'm still waiting on the WildCATS and TomCATS from Rebel Minis.
That's the problem with ordering online, it's too easy and fast. You then expect the minis to magically appear through the letterbox the very next day.

First Post

After deciding to start a blog about my ongoing 15mm scifi miniatures project I quickly realised I had no real idea what I was doing. So here we go. This is the first post and I still don't know what I'm actually going to do with this. The plan is to post pics of my painted miniatures and chat about what releases and figures I've managed to pick up.

I'm currently working on a couple of squads of Critical Mass Games ARC Recon troops. These are great figures and I hope to get more of this range. These are supported by a couple of APCs, using some toy armoured cars from Matchbox picked up for a couple of £ from ebay. Hopefully I can get some decent picks of these and figure out how to post them on here.

I'll also try and post figure comparison photos from various figure manufacturers and other useful stuff. Let's just see how this goes. Fingers crossed.....
