I've just been distracted by another project. I'm currently working on a 15mm Napoleonic project which means I've not been buying or painting any new 15mm scifi minis. I will return to this at some point, probably after reading a scifi book or watching a scifi film that reignites my interest.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">The first core unit is a PowerArmoured unit, which includes specialist troopers that are armed with new alien tech weaponry. This alien weaponry is rumoured to have been supplied by a race that is aligned against the Federal Forces.</span><br />

While avoiding outright armed conflict with Federal Forces they have greatly enhanced their military assets. The Eastway Council has brought in a large force of professional soldiers </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">and rewarded them with Citizenship and a promise of land.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The new ENG (Eastway National Guard) have met with the existing ECM (Eastway City Militia) leadership with a view to integrating their forces. </span><br />

So better late than never, here they are...</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/6dec010_zps51878fbd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/6dec010_zps51878fbd.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These are (from left to right); <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Darkest</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Star Star Marauder, Khurasan Control Battalion, Critical Mass ARC Scout, Darkest Star Magravate Militia, Laserburn Starship Crewman.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/6dec011_zps732d6fa7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="155" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/6dec011_zps732d6fa7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And again from left to right; Darkest Star Zonii Warrior, Khurasan Control Battalion, Critical Mass ARC Scout, Darkest Star</span><span style="font-family: Arial;"> Magravate Militia, Laserburn Starship Crewman.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">These are all from the 1st wave of minis released by Darkest Star for their <a href="http://www.darkeststargames.com/colony-15-sci-fi.html" target="_blank">Colony 15 range</a>. They have since released the <a href="http://www.darkeststargames.com/spec-sec.html" target="_blank">Spec-Sec range</a> of anime inspires 15mm minis.</span>Colin Bailliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09197807522584890988noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858483459507967394.post-6514449647445703372013-04-15T12:50:00.000+01:002013-04-15T12:50:24.521+01:00Eastway National Armed Forces - using ArmiesArmy British<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I just received a large bundle of the new ArmiesArmy British forces as a thank you from Keith for designing their logo. Wow! These figures are great. They have convinced me to put away my 28mm Greek army and get back to my 15mm Scifi world. A big sorry to those who have followed the blog and have missed the regular posts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">At first look I was sure that these guys would be perfect as additional forces for my Eastway City Militia faction. The have the same rounded helmet style that the Rafm/Traveller figures have. I even painted one up to see how it looked in the same colours. </span><span style="font-family: Arial;">I was very happy with the way the figure came out. "Perfect!", I thought.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Then I got some of the Rafm minis out of storage. And the size difference is very noticable. I knew Rafm have suffered from a couple of decades of scale creep, but I hadn't thought it would be quite as bad.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">But... to be honest, the new figures from ArmiesArmy are so good that I may just retire the older rafm minis and focus on the new mini range.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Anyway, here is the 1st of the new minis, and some of the Rafm ones so you can judge for yourself how they compare....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><br />Well, today I received two packages from Darkest Star, so the issue has been with the postal service in either the US or UK.<br />
<br />I need to say that Darkest Star's customer service has been outstanding... and the figures are great as well. I doubt they have made anything, except a loss, on our transaction, but what they have gained is a very happy customer who will be buying more from them.<br />

I'll post comparison pics as soon as I can.</em><br /></span><br />Colin Bailliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09197807522584890988noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858483459507967394.post-17831987236405481242012-10-11T10:40:00.000+01:002012-11-04T15:15:53.740+00:00The Gutungi join the Federal Army<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Gutungi are the decentants of the early human colonists of the planet Gutung, a massive, heavy grav world, with an oxygen poor atmosphere. As part of the Augment process pioneered by the infamous Professor Morrow, the Gutungi have been genetically altered to survive on their world. They are shorter, but massively muscular, to survive in the heavy gravity of their homeworld, and with lungs also altered to breath the difficult atmosphere of their planet, they now need sealed armour suits to survive on planets suitable for "normal" humans.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">The Gutungi will be joining the Meso-nai, an allied alien race, in the 3/14th Forsey Heavy Infantry Battalion, with support from another alien race, the Pulex, whose combat troopers wear heavy battlesuits, all transported by the Federal Army's Grizzly Transports.</span><br />

This included doing a logo for his company, Loud Ninja Games, plus branding for the Chuhuac, the Space Raptors.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/LoudNinjatshirtLogo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/LoudNinjatshirtLogo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's what Eli says about his project...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>"<strong>Loud Ninja Games</strong> is a new miniatures company that I decided to start to bring out some amazing ideas that have been trapped in the recesses of my imagination for years. To kick off the company I chose to run with one of my oldest and most dear concepts - science fiction Velociraptor style aliens.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>"These <b>"Space Raptors"</b> have been a dream of mine for over a decade now. I had doodled them, thought about them, planned them, even used them in role-playing games and so it only seemed natural that, when I decided to start my own miniatures line, they be the flagship release.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>"When it comes down to it, how can you not love the idea of one of prehistory's most efficient and thrilling predators, tricked out with armor, guns, gear and zooming through the cosmos. What is more evocative than the image of armored raptor warriors darting across the battlefield, raining down a hail of energy bolts from their advanced weapons, eventually closing with their enemies to put them under a sickle claw."</em></span><br />
<em><span style="font-family: Arial;"></span></em><br />
<em><span style="font-family: Arial;">Eli has started a Kickstarter for his range, so jump on board and sign up. The more who back this range, the more figures we'll have to play with.</span></em><br />

I have managed to make some progress, so here's a quick update.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em></em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>First of all, I've got my Khurasan Federal Army troops finished off...</em></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="168" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept001.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="141" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept004.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>These are among my favourite infantry figures on the market. There are some that I still need to get to complete the set - medics, female troopers and heavy weapon mounts etc.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em></em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>I recently added some of Critical Mass Games Protolene as a non-human unit of the Federal Army and I wanted another few races. The new Meso-Nai from Khurasan fitted the bill perfectly. All I needed was to paint them in the same colour scheme as the Federals and they looked the part... well the one test paint that I've finished, and he's still to get the base finished...</em></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="263" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept013.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="250" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept014.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="223" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept015.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em></em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>I also picked up a really cheap, and pretty poor Transformer style plastic toy from Poundland (for a £1) that looked like it could have potential. I've pulled it apart, glued it back together minus some parts, and minimal bits and bobs and a fair amount of plasticard and it looks good so far. Some parts don't match up that well, especially the tracks, but I'm sure some added bud and debris should hide that.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>I undercoated this in black before taking pics, so it's hard to see the detail. You can still see the horrendous bright yellow plastic it was molded in...</em></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="244" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept006.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="149" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12Sept010.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>You can see from the Khurasan minis that this is quite a beast of a tank. I'll post more as these progress.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em></em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>I also picked up some Space Demons from Khurasan. These have been on the want list for a long time and I could resist no more. The mini is actually a bit greener than in the pics. I went for green over the usual black/silver or blue, just to be different, but not sure if I'm happy. I've eleven of these painted and waiting for the bases to be finished. </em></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Forsey's Child is a satellite moon lacking in any breathable atmosphere but still has a population on a similar scale to Forsey itself. It's major city is Moonside, a vast metropolis that is 90% under the surface of the moon. Suffering from massive overpopulation, the lower city is a hive of poverty and deprivation. Conditions are so bad that even the droid and fabricant population is desperate to find a way to escape down to the surface of Forsey, where the life is hard but where oppurtunities to build a life are easier to find.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">These fabricants have escaped their corporate bondage and have travelled groundside as stowaways. Knowing they have no sentient rights they will do anything to avoid returning Moonside to a life in the mines or pleasure pits.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/3Sept001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/3Sept001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>These figures are fabricants from The Departments Bladerunner inspired range.</em></span>Colin Bailliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09197807522584890988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858483459507967394.post-91274967298619180312012-09-03T13:46:00.003+01:002012-09-03T13:48:21.294+01:0015mm Scifi Figure Comparison Part 5<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've done quite a few figure size comparison posts on here but not for a while, so with a few new figures through the door recently I thought it was time for some new scale pics.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">First up is the new range from The Department, which consist of Bladerunner style figures, including some really cool replicants. The figures in this range are mostly of the 18mm/larger sized figures, but the two replicants are closer to the traditional size.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12august002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="164" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12august002.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here they are alongside some other manufacturers miniatures.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12august001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/12august001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These are, from left to right, Critical Mass Arc trooper, Department detective, Laserburn ships crew, Khurasan Control Battalion Riflething, Department fabricant, and Micropanzer SAS.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I also picked up a Halo Micro Ops Falcon gunship, which is supposedly 1/100 scale, so should be perfect for 15mm scifi. The packs include infantry, and I know there was a great deal of excitement that we could see official Halo minis in 15mm. Now I know that the Spartans from Halo are supposed to be a lot taller than a normal human, but these minis are huge, as you can see from the next pic...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/3Sept003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="177" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/3Sept003.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These are, from left to right, Khurasan Meso-Nai, Khurasan Riflething, Critical Mass Arc Trooper, and lastly the Spartan figure that comes in the Falcon pack. I may use this as an advanced Augmented human and include it in my army.</span><br />

I've got a great little helicopter to get some paint on, plus I picked up one of the great Halo Micro Ops Falcon gunships. I've also got to base a set of Brigade (UK) human mercenaries that I've painted in red and black. I'm going to call this unit "The Deadpool" after a favourite Marvel mercenary superhero (?).</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em></em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>AND!!!</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em></em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>Just dropped through the letterbox. Khurasans Meso-Nai - these guys are going to be an alien regiment for my Federal Army - plus a pack of the Space Demons. I've held off from buying some of these Aliens for way too long.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em></em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>So. <span style="font-family: Arial;">This tracked vehicle is a move away from the more mobile, wheeled armoured vehicles that the Federal Army has been using on Forsey, but the deployment of these vehicles clearly indicates the fears that the crisis is threatening to escalate to full scale war.</span><br />

To add to the Essex and Corvus Belli miniatures I already had I ordered some more from other companies; Lancaster, Donnington and Freicorps (from QRF).</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">The Donnington figures are a bit large to match those I already have but their artillery pieces are the best I've seen. Here's an Onager and crew from Donnington. The figures are great, if a little large, but I did find the tunic to be a little short, almost miniskirt length.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Federal Mosquito drone is a n invaluable piece of equipment, enhancing the Federal forces' ability to scout it's surroundings and to keep track of insurgents and rogue militia.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july014.jpg" width="221" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july013.jpg" width="232" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july012.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">One of the Federation greatest regrets arose from the early colonial period and Project Uplift. With the difficulties of colonising new worlds with environments unsuitable for normal human life, the now infamous Professor Morrow led the genetic experimentation on many Earth based species, whereby animal lifeforms were force-evolved to a physical and mental level close to humans. This process was called "uplifting" and resulted in a variety of races that were used in the terraforming process in environments where humans couldn't work.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This led eventually to the "augment" process where humans were genetically altered to survive on worlds with different gravity, climate, atmosphere or solar issues.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Unfortunatly it also led to the Uplift Wars where many of the "animan" species rebelled and fought for their sentient </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">rights. This period of Federal history is now long past with many of the Animan races sharing equal status with their human counterparts.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Hundar are one such race that has rose to join the ranks of the Federation. Expert hunters and trackers, Hund troops can be found in most Federal Recon units, usually alongside a Human Affiliate.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july015.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="122" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july016.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Of course, the Uplift experiments also led to the variations in the human races throughout colonised space. The Heavy Augment troops of the Federal Army are one such sub-group. Taller and stronger than normal humans, these troops make for the best assault forces.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="99" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/30july017.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>The Mosquito is a miniture from Khurasan, and the Hunar are from Critical Mass Games, as are the Augments.</em></span>Colin Bailliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09197807522584890988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858483459507967394.post-17523453049002418542012-07-30T10:48:00.001+01:002012-07-30T10:48:30.208+01:00Federal Grizzly Mk2 - Dinky Stalwart Conversion<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Federal Grizzly Mk2 is the weapons platform version of the Mk1 heavy transport. I mean at least 20 years I've had these and they never got finished, and now they are, hand painted shields included! These are from Warrior Miniatures, who were a local company from Glasgow and were, and still are, really cheap little figures. They're a bit rough by modern standard ,but as nobody else I know makes 15mm testudo's, they're best around. Oh, and the Centurian is from Essex...</em></span><br />

The "Augustus Rex" variant is fitted with an over the shoulder, heavy multi-missile launcher. It also has large arm mounted booster engines which are used for both short jump flights and for stabilisers for when the missile launchers are fired.</span><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/Snalien002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em><img border="0" height="265" src="http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac270/C_Baillie/Snalien002.jpg" width="320" /></em></span></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>I'd posted this on a couple of forums and got some surprisingly positive feedback. I even discussed how to get this manufactured. Unfortunately, due to my lack of experience, I had created a figure that would be difficult to cast without costing a fortune and having several small fiddly pieces. I had also painted the figure meaning that the molding process would cause a reaction with the paint.</em></span><br />
<br />
<em><span style="font-family: Arial;">Even though this figure was never going to progress, I was still getting positive comments, and also there were people posting questions on what had happened. One was asking "who sculpted the moulting crab alien?". The thread on TMP contained images of hermit crab like aliens that were a lot better than what I had envisioned, sooooo.....</span></em><br />
<br />
<em><span style="font-family: Arial;">I got the green stuff out and started another figure. It's still very rough, has no arms of yet, the "feet" need sorted, and the face needs tidied. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile getting the body cast and then adding the arms/claws, so any and all comments are appreciated (even if it's to say "that's rubbish").</span></em><br />

The crew of the free-trader </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>Sanchuniathon,</em> who recently arrived on planet on one of their heavy cruiser's CLBs (Cargo Landing Boat), have found themselves trapped in Eastway City due to the trade embargo currently being enforced by Federal forces to try and halt the arming of the Eastway Militia by the DPRG and ROSK alliance.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Although they have a uniform look in the colour of their gear, it can be seen that a huge variety of equipment is used by this crew. This is typical of most independant free-trader crew members, whereas crews from the large corporate ships have more uniform gear.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>The figures are a selection of spacesuited figures that I've either picked up resently or were hanging around the collection for many years. I wanted them to look like a crew that was aiming for some uniformity but who had many different additions to their collective gear over the years. From left to right these are: Khurasan's <a href="http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/15mmscifi.html" target="_blank">Jaka Walsh</a>, a Traveller/Rafm female from the <a href="http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF07019&Category_Code=GRAV" target="_blank">Space Vixens</a> set, a pilot from 15mm.co.uk's <a href="http://15mm.co.uk/HOF57_Starfighter_Crew.htm" target="_blank">Starfighter crew</a>, a Traveller figure from Rafm's <a href="http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF07024&Category_Code=GRAV" target="_blank">Crewmen</a> set, an old out-of-production figure from Hobby Products, another Traveller <a href="http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF07022&Category_Code=GRAV" target="_blank">figure in padded armour</a> from Rafm, and the other pilot from 15mm.co.uk.
